The Blessing Box at FBC New Brockton
In August 2023, the Men’s Fellowship of FBC New Brockton began work on a heartfelt outreach project inspired by Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham, Texas. That inspiration became a mission: to serve the needs of our community through a Blessing Box, a simple but powerful way to show the love of Christ through everyday essentials.
Through a wonderful partnership with Hands Up Ministry and the Boy Scouts of America, this vision became a reality. Charles Bourne, working toward his Eagle Scout rank, led the construction and placement of the Blessing Box on the FBC campus. His dedication and leadership were a blessing to our church family and to the wider community.
Located just outside our church, the Blessing Box is available 24/7 to anyone in need. It is stocked with non-perishable food items and occasionally small devotional materials. The guiding principle is simple:
“Take what you need. Leave what you can. Be blessed.”
But the story doesn’t end with construction—the Children’s Ministry of FBC New Brockton has joyfully stepped in to help stock and maintain the Blessing Box as an ongoing act of service. The kids regularly bring in items, learn about generosity, and assist in organizing the box, making this a hands-on way for our youngest members to live out the Gospel.
This Blessing Box stands as the first of its kind in the town of New Brockton, and we pray it won’t be the last. It represents our commitment to being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community—loving, giving, and serving without hesitation.
“Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.”
– Matthew 25:40 (NASB95)
